MLWGS Regional School Board
The MLWGS Regional School Board is composed of one school board member from each of the participating localities. Its primary purpose is to set policy that guides the school and to represent and interpret the objectives, goals, programs and needs of the Governor’s School. The Regional School Board determines the MLWGS budget each year.
Each school superintendent belongs to the Superintendent Steering Committee of the Regional Board. The Fiscal Agent is the City of Richmond. Refer to the school website for complete information on current Regional School Board Members:

MLWGS Committees & Councils
Planning Committee
The Governor's School Planning Committee is composed of a representative from each one of
the localities participating in the Governor's School program. Its function is to assist the
Director in implementing and directing the mission of the school. The Committee also is
responsible for the development of admission and selection criteria. For a complete listing of

School Advisory Committee
The mission of the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International
Studies School Advisory Council (SAC) is to serve in an advisory capacity to enhance the
quality of education and to promote a broad-based curriculum, to support the effective
components of the existing programs and to ensure that the MLWGS mission is achieved.
